In the News - Great Western Bank Donates $1,500 to Rebuilding Together

SHAWNEE KS (June 17 2009) – Everyone knows that wise investing makes a difference. Now, Great Western Bank and its customers have proven that investing in our communities can make the greatest difference of all with the GreaterThan CD program.

To further its cause, Great Western Bank will donate $1,500 to Rebuilding Together in order to help make a difference for Shawnee homeowners that need it most.

In its second year serving the community, Rebuilding Together Shawnee works to help homeowners live safely and independently by providing a variety of services including making repairs and housing upgrades. This year, about 150 volunteers will join forces to help seven Shawnee homeowners in need. The projects include home maintenance, major rehab, and more. Each project is designed to preserve affordable homeownership.

“Great Western Bank’s donation will help make our 2009 projects possible,” said David Morris, Co-President of Rebuilding Together Shawnee.

“Community is important to us,” said Jeff Erickson, President and CEO of Great Western Bank. “We see the value of investing in the areas that we, along with our customers, call home. This campaign is an investment in the quality of life in these areas and our way of giving back.”

Launched in April, the GreaterThan CD program is one way Great Western Bank is Making Life Great in the communities it serves. For every certificate of deposit opened under the program, Great Western Bank donated money to worthwhile, local causes in each customer’s hometown. In total, Great Western Bank donated over $200,000 to about 80 organizations in 66 communities.
