Fort Collins, CO, (January 29, 2010) – Great Western Bank announces that in their first year of operations in Colorado, the bank’s community branches have made over $50,000 in donations to assist low income housing initiatives, organizations for children in need and financial literacy programs. The gifts are a part of the bank’s GreaterThan certificate of deposit program.
“Being an active member of our communities is big part of who we are,” said Great Western Bank Colorado Regional President Rob Stumbaugh. “Being able to step in and help organizations, when there has been an overall reduction in donations to help those in need, is especially gratifying.”
Organizations and communities benefitting from the bank’s GreaterThan CD program were:
• Big Brothers & Big Sisters in Colorado Springs and Canon City
• Denver Active 20-30 Children’s Foundation
• Denver Rescue Mission
• Flatirons Habitat for Humanity in Boulder County
• Junior Achievement of Northern Colorado
• Loaves and Fishes of Canon City
• Realities for Children of Fort Collins
• Sister Carmen Center in Boulder County
“Working closely with our communities we were able to help build affordable houses, provide mentors for children, assist families and children in great need, and teach children financial literacy,” continued Stumbaugh. “Our investment in our communities is strengthened by working with these organizations, their volunteers and their board of directors in helping those most in need.”
As a part of Great Western Bank’s new GreaterThan certificate of deposit program, the bank will be donating to the many worthwhile causes in Great Western Bank communities. Great Western Bank works with local leaders to select organizations that serve their communities with a focus on low income housing initiatives, organizations for children in need and financial literacy programs.
To date, the GreaterThan CD program has provided over $350,000 in support to over 80 local non-profit organizations in Great Western Bank communities.
