The Bank has been a sponsor of the Summer Confluence Park Jazz Concert Series for 11 years. The concerts have been held at Confluence Park where the South Platte River meets Cherry Creek which, coincidentally, is the original location of the city of Auraria, the precursor to Denver. The concert series is the creation of Jeff Shoemaker, Executive Director of the Greenway Foundation, a group dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the South Platte River and its tributaries throughout the Denver Metropolitan area.
Each year on four consecutive Thursday evenings in July, a local/regional Jazz group entertains local Downtown (LoDo) residents to a free concert. The event has grown in popularity over the years and is well attended.
The sponsorship provides the Bank with an opportunity to support the community. This year, Great Western Bank welcomed community members with a grand prize drawing for a mountain bike at its tent.
