Great Western Bank names Chris Wiedenfeld Group President for Omaha Market SIOUX FALLS, SD – August 29, 2016 - Great Western Bank is pleased to announce the promotion of Chris Wiedenfeld to Group President for the Omaha metropolitan area. Wiedenfeld has served as acting Group President for the Omaha market since May of this year and prior to that managed Great Western’s Business Banking unit in Omaha for the past three years.

We are excited to announce the kick-off for our 2016 Make-A-Wish campaign at Great Western Bank. Make-A-Wish® grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories. Last year Great Western Bank was able to grant one wish with our fundraising efforts. Our 2016 goal is raise enough funds to sponsor two wishes for children in the Sioux Empire Area.
The Milbank Great Western Bank cancer walk team participated in the 2016 It Only Takes A Spark Annual Cancer Walk.Great Western Bank rocked this year by winning 3 awards. These included the most creative campsite award using "Frozen" as their theme, the top Corporate fundraising team with $14,800 donated and the Community Purple award for best decorated boot (Give Cancer the Boot Penny War). The community raised a total of $103,000 to assist Cancer patients in the surrounding area.

On February 22, Great Western Bank in Hastings presented to The Bridge in Hastings, NE with funds contributed by Great Western Bank employees during the month of February. The Bridge is 1 of 12 agencies selected to receive funds contributed by local Great Western Bank employees in 2016.
Great Western Bank is proud to sponsor Volunteer Sioux Falls in 2016. The project has grown from a single day of service to three service events annually. The first event, National 211 Day, was held on February 11th at a local non-profit, The Helpline Center. Several hundred volunteers worked on various projects such as making handmade Valentine’s Day cards for veterans, hygiene kits for domestic abuse survivors, and appreciation luncheon centerpieces. The Helpline Center serves thousands of people every year by connecting individuals to resources and support, providing child care referrals, providing volunteers to local agencies and offering suicide and crisis support though a 24/7 phone bank. As a sponsor of Volunteer Sioux Falls, Great Western Bank will also take part in National Volunteer Week in April and the Volunteer EXPO in September.
